Oral Antibiotics - Minocycline

Minocycline is a tetracycline antibiotic used in acne treatment as well as some other inflammatory conditions. It is available as a pill, which is to be taken on an empty stomach. It has anti-inflammatory properties as well as being an antibiotic, reducing acne flares. It can reduce acne pimples by 60% or more.

Side-effects are rare, but include:

  • Indigestion and stomach pain
  • Dizziness in the initial few days until the body adjusts
  • Other complications are possible
